Three Minutes From The Diamonds
Ask anyone who plays here where they hit in January and the answer involves a highway. Caledonia has never had an indoor option of its own, so the winter has always meant a drive to Hamilton or Brantford and a whole evening spent on forty minutes of swings.
Henning Park sits on the north side of town; The Den is on Industrial Drive to the south, a straight run down Argyle Street. A team can finish a practice at the park and be taking measured swings indoors before the equipment bags are unpacked. For Cal Bears, Haldimand Minor Baseball and Caledonia Minor Softball families, it is close enough that a player can get a round in after school without an adult rearranging the evening.
Summer belongs to the diamonds. The Den is what happens the rest of the year.
How It Works
Drop In
Rounds on the automatic cage run about eight minutes. Buy them ahead, check in from your phone, and hit when the queue reaches you.
Book a Cage
Take a full 70-foot tunnel in 30, 60, 90 or 120-minute blocks — enough room for a team practice or a private session.
Join Up
Monthly memberships include rounds and add a personal door code, so the building is open to you at any hour. Every round is logged to your account.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far is it from the park?
A straight run down Argyle Street to the south end of town, about three minutes from the diamonds. Close enough that a team can finish up at Henning and be hitting indoors before the bags are packed away.
What is there for our team over the winter?
Full tunnels book by the block, which is enough room to run a team practice. The building is heated and keeps the same hours in February as it does in July, so the off-season stops being the part of the year where nobody touches a bat.
Do we have to join something to use it?
No. There is a walk-up option that does not require a membership. Memberships are aimed at players who are hitting most weeks, and they add door-code access at any hour.
Can a player get a few swings in before a game?
That is what the automatic cage is for. It runs as a queue rather than a booking calendar, so you check in when you arrive instead of reserving a slot days ahead.
When does it open?
An opening date has not been announced yet. The Den will post it on their own site once it is set.
